MOSES' Modules

Continuous improvement in ‘Community Building’ is what is needed to make a congregation thrive – and to build your synagogue community, you need a tool that can make you a quantum leap more effective in serving and communicating with your community.

MOSES is a very strong tool to help you build your community and to help you serve your membership.  It is a fully integrated system for effectively managing a congregation’s operations, from Membership Records to Events, from Cemeteries to Yahrzeits, from Communications to Accounting.

Membership:  The membership module is the cornerstone of the system.  It enables you to see what is and what has been happening with any member family or individual.  It enables you to keep a photo of each member and to print the photo on a High Holiday ticket or a ‘My name is’ badge. It gives you the ability to categorize members by your choice of different sets of categories; thus you can keep track of positions held within the congregation, and you can keep an inventory of member skills.  You can keep track of who is willing to read Torah and what portions they are able to read (if not all).   MOSES enables you to focus on your active members while still allowing you to keep records for members on leave or for ‘affiliate’ members.

Yahrzeit: The yahrzeit module allows you to make enquiries and generate reports by (individual) mourner, by family, by name of deceased, by date (so that it is easy to print a report of this week’s Yahrzeits), and by Yahrzeit board position (so that it is easy for a person to turn on all appropriate lights without having to walk back and forth constantly).  It enables you to automatically send out Yahrzeit notices in the format of your choice.

Cemetery: MOSES keeps track of plots occupied, plots reserved, and plots available for each of your congregation’s sections in multiple cemeteries.  It enables you to set up billings for care with different options (e.g. annual, perpetual) and to set up planting/maintenance schedules.

Facilities Management: The facilities management subsystem allows you to reserve different rooms within your facility for different events, be they congregational events or private events (e.g. weddings, community rallies). It allows you to specify arrangements (e.g. Audio-Visual requirements) for each event.  It provides an easy way to find available dates for a function.

Events:  The system keeps track of congregational events and allows them to be easily posted to the congregation’s web site.  It allows you to look up events by date, by type, or by keyword.

Major Events: For congregational events, MOSES provides extra functionality, e.g. tracking of costs vs. budgets, ticket sales management, seating plans by table and by name for congregational dinners.

Fund Raising: The system keeps track of pledges made and payments against them. It can be used to generate prospect lists and to track appeals/requests made and follow-ups made and to be made.

Billing: The billing subsystem takes care of annual billings (e.g. dues, building fund installments) and one-time charges (e.g. kiddish sponsorships, donations).  It has a very flexible structure supporting multiple dues levels.  It issues tax receipts on an annual or immediate basis.

Accounting: The accounting systems (AR, AP, GL, Bank Reconciliation) not only are fully integrated with the other modules; they also have a similar look and feel and therefore a person who knows the rest of the system can easily learn the accounting modules.  They are powerful and proven in different businesses.

Communications: MOSES allows you to send out ‘mailings’, either broadcast mail to ‘all’ families or to groups (e.g. the Ritual Committee), by email, by fax, and by ‘snail mail’ (via printed envelopes or labels or by sending a file to a mailing house).  It keeps logs of communications sent.

Web Site: With the web site option, MOSES provides an on-line Membership Directory (with appropriate security precautions) and the ability for members to interact with the congregation’s web site, e.g. to update their records (e.g. address, phone#, interests), to check their account status/history, or to make payments.

Your congregation needs to take full advantage of information technology to be the best it can be.  Let MOSES lead you and your congregation out of the wilderness to the promised land.
